Date a girl who reads.

  1. Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve.
  2. Find a girl who reads. You'll know that she does because she will always have an unread book in her bag. She's the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore, the one who quietly cries out when she finds the book she wants. You see the weird chick sniffing the pages of an old book in a second hand book shop? That's the reader. They can never resist smelling the pages, especially when they are yellow.
  3. She's the girl reading while waiting in that coffee shop down the street. If you take a peek at her mug, the non-dairy creamer is floating on top because she's kind of engrossed already. Lost in a world of the author's making. Sit down. She might give you a glare, as most girls who read do not like to be interrupted. Ask her if she likes the book. Buy her another cup of coffee.
  4. Let her know what you really think of Murakami. See if she got through the first chapter of Fellowship. Understand that if she says she understood James Joyce's Ulysses she's just saying that to sound intelligent. Ask her if she loves Alice or she would like to be Alice.
  5. It's easy to date a girl who reads. Give her books for her birthday, for Christmas and for anniversaries.
  6. Give her the gift of words, in poetry, in song. Give her Neruda, Pound, Sexton, Cummings. Let her know that you understand that words are love. Understand that she knows the difference between books and reality but by God, she's going to try to make her life a little like her favorite book. It will never be your fault if she does. She has to give it a shot somehow.
  7. Date a girl who reads Harry Potter's books. And when she cries because of those books. Don't ever say everything gonna be alright because you don't know. Just sit next to her, wait till she speaks. And then let her tell you the reason why she cries, then all you have to do just nod, smile and say Keep reading, I want to know the next part. Is that happy ending?
  8. Lie to her. If she understands syntax, she will understand your need to lie. Behind words are other things: motivation, value, nuance, dialogue. It will not be the end of the world.
  9. Fail her. Because a girl who reads knows that failure always leads up to the climax. Because girls who understand that all things will come to end. That you can always write a sequel. That you can begin again and again and still be the hero. That life is meant to have a villain or two.
  10. Why be frightened of everything that you are not? Girls who read understand that people, like characters, develop.
  11. If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She'll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are.
  12. You will propose on a hot air balloon. Or during a rock concert. Or very casually next time she's sick.
  13. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Yeats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.
  14. Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you're better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.
Ps: For me, when you date a girl who reads. When she shares her world, imagination, characters, quotes this and that. It means she's already in love with you. Don't ever screw her reading-time, it's her world.

Friend I haven't met yet

Hi, friends! First, I want to apologize everyone who followed my blog. Pardon me, because I'm such a good procastinator. Anyway, let's make it short. I've best presents I ever received from Andrea. Andrea is my soul-twin, or you can say Friend-I-haven't-met-yet. She gave me three presents, err four (She said, all of her thoughts are the ones that count). Okay, she got me:

A book. Andrea said, "it tells the story of a wonderful friendship and most importantly how in the end love always wins". Yes, I agree. This book, is one of my best books I've ever read after (I've been stucked on Bible and Harry Potter. But, Bible isn't only a book but also my direction). Tuesdays With Morrie has told me a greatest lesson, it's not just like a story. But, it's really a life's greatest lesson. A wonderful friendship between teacher and student. Oh, Mitch Albom is faced with a crossroads in his life, started to question what he really wants, what is important for his life. Morrie was one of Mitch's best teacher (Everyone must have one teacher; the best one) in college. Mitch promised Morrie (his former professor) on graduation day, that he would still keep in touch with him. But time passed, and Mitch hadn't seen nor heard his dear professor in sixteen years. At the end it's just a fate, Mitch and Morrie reunited but under unpleasant circumstances. Morrie was sick, he was diagnosed ASL (Amyotropic Lateral Sclerious).
Okay, I don't want to be a spoiler for those outthere who haven't read this book (It a must read book). So, in short Morrie just said "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to life."Morrie knew he will die; but he won't just sit and wait his time, he really want to do something that can change people's life. "Do what Buddish do. Every day, have a little bird on your shoulder that asks, 'Is today the day? Am I ready? Am I doing all I need to do? Am I being the person I want to be?'". With Mitch's help, Morrie decided to make his life 'a human textbook' something like a diary. Morrie told Mitch, "Study me in my slow and patient demise. Watch what happens to me. Learn with me."
Every Tuesday, Mitch came to Morrie's. Discussed life's important issues such as the world, self-pity, regrets, death, family, emotions, the fear of aging, money, love, marriage, culture, forgiveness, the perfect day, and goodbye. Then, just grab one and let this book drive you. You can laugh out loud and feel like your eyes are wet when you read this book

2. A wand. FROM OLLIVANDER'S! Hell yeah! I got my own wand. My wand is chosen by my birth date and shall match with my personality. Oh and then, it's made of the same wood type as Harry Potter's. Oh, after that, I GOT MY POTTERMORE WELCOME EMAIL too. Finally, I've been placed in Gryffindor! And, I have my wand too on Pottermore world.

3. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. One of my Harry Potter's favorite book! This book starts a great tale of one of the world's most loved friendship, bravest boy, most loyal ginger, and the brightest witch. This book means world to me and to her. Yeah, this book is my childhood and will be my child's childhood.

See? Andrea is my sweetest friend ever. I love her as always. I love her like I love myself. She's Andrea. The only Andrea, I've ever known in my life. My best Andrea. Nobody could replace her. Only her. I love her so much. Thank you so much, Andrea. You may not read my blog. But, as always I want you to know. I love you so much, and thank you for the gifts and you. <3

Leora Andrea Janice. Err, those smile? Raise your hand if you agree if she's beautiful! I already raised my hands! ;D

We might as well be strangers....

As my promise. I want to share my my up and down mood to y'all. Okay, I haven't told you guys. Last month, I met him. Okay, he came to my school with his friend. I mean his friend is my elementary school's friend. So, they came to my school. At first I was lazy because of I didn't know that he will come. But, my friend said 'Itu, dia mau dateng sama cumi.'. At first I didn't realized, then I was screaming because of he will come! My friends didn't let me go home earlier. And yeah it's because of I was too curious "how awkward" when our eyes meet each other. Okay, then everything just like..... Nothing happens! Shit, like he didn't apologize at all. And he started the conversation. He just teased me like he used to..Okay, well won't talk about this crap for this time. Wanna share something... A good lyrics. Hehe, although it's just like 'Galau' songs :p

Or  feel your touch that I adore
I don't know your face no more
It's just a place I'm looking for
We might as well be strangers in another town
We might as well be living in a different world
We might as well
We might as well
We might as well

I don't know your thoughts these days
We're strangers in an empty space
I don't understand your heart
It's easier to be apart
(We might as well be strangers -Keane)

you’ve been alright
without me all along
the fact that upsetting
yet a lil bit releaving
time is a mystery
space is a myth
cant be sure where you’re going
the darkness tells me nothing

we’re walking on a different tracks
heading to a different space and time
and i can see you’re doing okay
though i’ll be using telescope
capturing your moves
deliver love you might not received, not received..
(Telescope-  Hollywood Nobody)

Ps: Well yeah! Life will be much easier when I forget every single things about you, or we never know each other. Such a pain. So, just try to listen the songs. Anyway I just bought #Kening is really recommended book! You have to buy it, and you can follow the writer on twitter! @fitrop
